Biography

Dr. Sinead King is a translational neuroscientist currently based at the Centre for Neuroimaging and Cognitive Genomics (NICOG), National University of Ireland, Galway and coordinates the ERC funded immune response and social cognition in Schizophrenia (iRELATE) project as well as a number of ENIGMA projects (

Prior to this, Dr. King completed postdoctoral work at the School of Medicine, Stanford University where she further developed her expertise in clinical and neuroimaging skills in the development of effective neuromodulation treatments for severe mental illness. Sinead received her Ph.D. in Neuroscience in 2019 from the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology & Neuroscience, Kings College London, and here, was trained under the supervision of Professor Allan Young. Sinead is dedicated to understanding the basic neuroscience mechanisms of how chronic stress impacts neuro-inflammatory processes and ultimately to bringing new and effective treatments that can target these processes.
