ED6180 STEM Resources for Teachers

This programme has ten places available for five primary and five secondary school teachers, with priority placement given to teachers from DEIS schools. Participants will learn about and receive resources for the classroom including science engagement activities, science capital teaching approach methods, and lesson plan kits developed by teachers for teachers, that are linked with the primary and junior cycle science curricula.

ECS308 Effective Leadership and Professionalism for the Early Years Sector

Within the Early Childhood field, there is growing evidence linking the role of leadership to the improvement of quality within Early Years provision for young children and their families. Furthermore, leadership is viewed as one of the key ingredients required in order to ensure the continued professionalisation of the sector. This module examines leadership qualities and skills — what they are, and how to develop them— in the context of early childhood education and care.

NU6445 (UCD) Specialist Understanding of Complex Care for Children

This module focuses on the central concepts of care that underpin specialist practice in complex care for children and their families. This module aims to broaden and build students’ repertoire of teaching strategies beyond traditional didactic approaches. Students will also explore the concept of “student engagement” and will examine how to: (1) incorporate active learning strategies into their classes and (2) use technologies to support teaching and promote student interest. This module provides detailed coverage of Object Oriented (OO) programming principles. It focuses on programming in Java, an OO language that is modern, vendor-independent, and widely used in industry. CT621 Artificial Intelligence
Beginning: Monday, May. 15, 2023
The module begins by examining the concept of AI and as well highlighting some important real-world applications of AI. It then presents search strategies currently employed in AI research. This is developed further by the examination of the functional programming language Prolog. The second half of the module looks at Knowledge Representation and Machine Learning. It also deals with the topic of uncertainty in AI.
