Dr. Goljanek-Whysall studied microRNA-based mechanisms of muscle development during her PhD. She next set up her research group at the University of Liverpool studying the role of epigenetic changes in muscle wasting and demonstrating the role of microRNAs in sarcopenia development. This led to Korenchevsky Award and Editor roles for Biogerontology and Scientific Reports. In 2018, she relocated to NUIG to study microRNAs as therapeutics for muscle loss during ageing and disease.
