Dear Colleagues,

I am pleased to share the news that our university has
been accredited with the KeepWell Mark by Ibec,
Ireland’s nationwide business representative group.
We were awarded Commitment level in our first
KeepWell report for 2021. You can read more here

What is KeepWell?
The KeepWell Mark is a nationwide framework that
provides employers of all sizes with a set of health and
wellbeing standards that are achieved through
promotion of wellbeing in the workplace. It provides a
way of independently assessing our progress in
implementing policies, supports and initiatives that
enhance our staff’s wellbeing.

The KeepWell Mark focuses on the following key areas
of workplace wellbeing:

• Leadership
• Absence Management
• Smoke Free
• Physical Activity
• Health and Safety
• Mental Health
• Healthy Eating
• Intoxicants

What happens next?
Achieving KeepWell Mark accreditation is one of the
flagship actions in our strategic plan, under the value
of Respect. However, we don’t want to stop here.
Commitment level is the first level of achievement but
we are committed to reaching the Excellence level by
2025. This is an ambitious target, and we are currently
reviewing the detailed recommendations for
improvement issued by the auditor to kick-start our
KeepWell action plan.

We are aware there are some items from the Work
Positive Report in 2018 that are not included in the
KeepWell Mark framework and have yet to be
satisfactorily addressed. I want to assure colleagues
that those items will be included in the overall People
Strategy 2022-2025.
KeepWell Mark accreditation is managed by Ibec and
the process included self-assessment, external
assessment, employee and manager focus groups, and
one-to-one meetings with senior leadership,
employees and managers. I would like to take this
opportunity to thank the Project Team and all those
who supported the Self- Assessment and were
involved on the assessment day.

d’fhostaithe agus de bhainisteoirí, agus cruinnithe duine le
duine le ceannasaithe sinsearacha, fostaithe agus bainisteoirí i
