Scholarships for South Asia

South Asian Student Scholarships for 2022/2023 are now closed

University of Galway is committed to attracting high calibre students from around the world. To this end, the University offers a range of merit based partial tuition fee waivers to eligible students.

Awards for South Asian students range from €1,000 up to 50% tuition fee waivers for those commencing study at University of Galway in September 2022.

Eligibility

Undergraduate or Postgraduate Students from South Asia that have accepted an offer to study at University of Galway commencing September 2022 will be considered for these awards. Our South Asian Scholarships are available to high-achieving students from Bangladesh, India, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka.

How to Apply

Scholarships applicants are assessed based on academic merit. In addition, applicants will be asked to submit a Personal Scholarship Statement. (500 words maximum) covering the following points:

Your interest in coming to University of Galway.
Why you believe you are a good candidate for this scholarship.
How will you promote links with University of Galway, both during your scholarship tenure and as alumni?

Deadline

Round 1: Opened in February; open to all students that have accepted their offer on/before 28^th March - round 1 awards closed on Thursday 31^st March.

Round 2: Opened on Friday 1^st April and round 2 awards closed on Friday June 17th.

Assessment Process

Round 1: Announcements will be made in early April.

Round 2: Announcements will be made in July.

College of Arts, Social Sciences, and Celtic Studies

The College of Art, Social Sciences, and Celtic Studies are awarding South Asian students scholarships valued at €1,000 and €2,000 for those commencing study in their college in September 2022.

The College of Art, Social Sciences, and Celtic Studies is also awarding one South Asian student a 50% fee waiver valued at up to €8,150. This 50% fee waiver will be offered to a Postgraduate student.

The College of Business, Public Policy, & Law are awarding several different Student Scholarships ranging from €1,000 up to 50% tuition fee waivers. All applicants who have already accepted their offer from the College of Business, Public Policy, & Law are invited to apply.

The College of Science and Engineering are awarding South Asian Undergraduate student scholarships valued at €2,000 each for those commencing study in their college in September 2022.

The College of Science and Engineering are awarding South Asian Postgraduate student scholarships valued at €6,000 each for those commencing study in their college in September 2022.
