Biography

Dr. Bharat B Tripathi was born in Varanasi, India. He received his B.Sc. degree in Statistics (Hons.) with the University Gold medal from Banaras Hindu University in 2010. He then received his M.Sc. in Applied Statistics and Informatics in 2012, from Indian Institute of Technology Bombay, India. He earned his Ph.D. in 2015 from Institut d'Alembert, Sorbonne University (Paris-VI), France in Mechanical Engineering. His Ph.D. research focused on development of the discontinuous Galerkin method for nonlinear acoustic shocks in complex geometry with applications in sonic boom, therapeutic ultrasound.

From 2016 to 2017 as Postdoctoral Associate and from 2018 till August 2020 as Research Assistant Professor, he worked in the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill on modeling and simulation of shear shock waves in brain in the context of traumatic brain injury. In September 2020, he joined National University of Ireland Galway, Ireland as a Lecturer (Above The Bar) in Applied Mathematics at School of Mathematics, Statistics and Applied Mathematics. The overarching theme of his research is the development of state-of-the-art numerical methods for the propagation of nonlinear-acoustic and nonlinear-shear waves in fluids and solids, respectively, with applications to biomedical problems.
