Biography

I am research associate at DSI@NUI Galway, working as part of the Unit for Natural Language Processing (UNLP) under the lead of Dr. Paul Buitelaar.
My background is in Natural Language Processing, more specifically rule-based sentiment analysis and information extraction. I am involved in using and applying DSI's knowledge extraction framework Saffron for academic collaborations or in projects, such as with the organization HIQA for extracting the areas of improvement of hospital based on patients feedback, or with the company Fidelity in the domain of enterprise knowledge extraction. I am involved in the H2020 Prêt-à-LLOD project, working on expanding a platform of linguistic resources following LOD best practice.

I recently participated to the 3rd Summer Datathon on Linguistic Linked Open Data 2019, winning the best datathon results award for a mini-project on the creation of a Linked Open resource of TED talks.
On other activities, I was a speaker at the Galway edition of Soapbox Science in 2018, and was selected as participant in the Aurora Leadership Development Programme 2019, run by the Leadership Foundation for Higher Education UK in 2019.

My previous activities in DSI included participating in the management of the EU project MixedEmotions on emotion detection, which successfully completed in May 2017. I also contributed in building a system for definition extraction out of legal texts using a mixture of automatic NLP tools and symbolic methods for a project with the GRCTC of Cork. I was part of the local organizers team for the first LDK conference 2017, held in Galway in June 2017.

Before joining DSI, I worked for 3 years for a company in France. During that period, I worked on a few European research projects such as “SAUGE” ” where I helped developing a CV parser enriched with ontologies, or “TIER” in the epidemic risks detection from WHO reports. I also worked on projects for private companies (Orange, SFR, Euromaster, etc.) for customer relationship management, which involved information extraction, sentiment analysis and automatic classification of customer reviews.

I owe a BSc. in Computer Science and Linguistics from Lyon 2 University (France, 2011) and a MSc. in Natural Language Processing from Stendhal University (Grenoble, France, 2013). The title of my thesis was : Transforming French shallow dependencies into a Stanford-based dependency set adapted to French language.
