Biography

Sergey Alexandrov is a Senior Research Fellow at School of Physics, NUIG. He received his Ph.D. from St. Petersburg State University, St. Petersburg, Russia. Currently he is a Senior Research Fellow at School of Physics, the National University of Ireland in Galway. Before Ireland he worked as a Research Associate with the University of Pittsburgh, Department of Medicine, PA, USA and as a Research Assistant Professor with Optical Biomedical Engineering Laboratory (OBEL), Department of Electrical, Electronic & Computer Engineering, at the University of Western Australia (UWA). His research interests are optics, biomedical optics, optical imaging, including optical microscopy, super-resolution, optical coherence tomography (OCT), development of novel optical imaging approaches for different applications, including medicine and biology. His main experience is development of novel optical methods and tools, such as microscopic imaging and measuring techniques (holographic, interference, polarization, spectral, etc.) for biomedical and other applications. Significant contribution has resulted in the creation of new optical microscopy and optical coherence tomography (OCT) methods and techniques for high resolution (super-resolution) nano-sensitive imaging, non-destructive testing, diagnostic and its application to different objects, including biomedical. 

Research Interests

My research interests are optics, biomedical optics, optical imaging, including optical microscopy, super-resolution microscopy, optical coherence tomography (OCT). I am interested and work on development of novel optical imaging approaches for different applications, including medicine and biology.
