Biography

Lecturer in Shannon College of Hotel Management- in areas of Marketing, Entrepreneurship, HRM, Global Business, Management of Organisational Change. Student mentoring, and supervisor of the Shannon College's annual European Mise En Place (EM) Cup team. Associate head of marketing, and QS rankings co-ordinator within Shannon College. Exam appeal committee, academic council member and race equality committee member.
Participate/facilitate in undergrad peer lead learning such as in the HEAR ME communications awareness programme- yr3 HRM class in Shannon with final year Speech and Language Therapy students on main campus, and COIL with FH Wien (Vienna).

Former programme leader for the MSc in Business and Hospitality.

Mentor within the University's mentoring programme, and facilitator for LIFT roundtables (online).

Current interest in business and hospitality trends, consumer behaviour, generational differences in management, carbon literacy, coaching as a management style, sustainable business in hotels, hospitality and beyond. Also interested in innovations in teaching practices and assessment methods for student engagement.

Past experience teaching in UL and private colleges in the areas of business and management.

Also previous involvement co-ordinating Student Enterprise Awards (SEA) activity in Co. Laois.

Interests include economics, sociology and higher level education and student development.

Research Interests

Higher level education- including inclusion and assessment practices, leadership development for future hoteliers, entrepreneurship, recruitment and retention in the hospitality industry, buyer behaviour in catering and hospitality industry, changes in consumer behaviour in relation to travel and tourism, public policy impacting employment, hospitality and business in Ireland.
