Dr Jefferson Galetti
Jefferson is a Postdoctoral Researcher affiliated with the Centre for Entrepreneurial Growth and Scaling (CEGS). He holds a PhD in Economics from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro and is a Research Associate with the South African Research Chair in Industrial Development (SARChI-ID). His work has been published in journals including the Journal of Human Capital, Journal of Applied Econometrics, Papers in Regional Science, and Journal of Business Research. Jefferson also worked at a public investment promotion agency, where he engaged with entrepreneurs and policymakers on initiatives that fostered regional development through the attraction of new industries.
His current research examines the role of funding strategies, especially the use of patient capital, in business scaling and how appropriate funding may foster the development of other influential factors for scaling, including human capital, social capital and innovation. His research seeks to generate evidence that can support entrepreneurs in making funding decisions and policymakers in fostering more dynamic and comprehensive scale-up supports. He believes that understanding how capital, skills and technology interact is essential for designing effective strategies that promote scale-up growth and long-term economic prosperity.
