There are currently over 650 study abroad places available for University of Galway students, and each year the number of places increases. With exchange agreements throughout Europe, North America, Hong Kong, Australia, Chile, Japan and South Korea.

Your programme of study will determine if you are eligible to study abroad. Many University of Galway programmes provide an opportunity for students to study for a semester or year abroad. All available places are based on bilateral agreements with specific universities in specific subject areas. Available opportunities will depend on the exchange agreements your discipline has with partner universities.

To undertake a credited international mobility you have to be a registered University of Galway student, in the appropriate year, and be approved by your academic coordinator for one of the places that are available on your course. You should contact your College coordinator for details on applications / expression of interest, timings and to find out what options are available to you. Depending on your course and its requirements, students are typically given opportunities to expected to study or work abroad for either a full academic year or one semester.
