The Centre for Disability Law and Policy (CDLP) will hold a one-day interdisciplinary conference on disability rights on the island of Ireland entitled 'Disability/Visibility' on 3 September 2019 in the Institute for Lifecourse and Society, NUI Galway. This event is hosted in collaboration with the Irish Disability Studies Association. The conference, and its outputs, are funded by the Irish Human Rights and Equality Commission (IHREC) and the Irish Research Council (IRC) through a New Foundations Grant, from April-December 2019. The purpose of this funding is to resource the development of the transdisiplinary human rights and equality research community in Ireland in order to support IHREC’s delivery of its mandate. The conference seeks to bring together Early Career Researchers (ECRs) and other interested parties, North and South, to stimulate dialogue and engagement on disability rights, encourage knowledge exchanges and develop connections between academia, civil society and disabled people’s organisations.

The conference is free to attend and includes lunch and refreshments, however places are limited, so registration is essential. You can register to attend on eventbrite here: https://www.eventbrite.ie/e/disabilityvisibility-tickets-64596471786

As part of the Disability/Visibility conference and its outcomes, the research team at the Centre for Disability Law and Policy, in collaboration with the Disability/Visibility conference organising committee, has developed a survey on the future of disability research on the island of Ireland. The survey can be accessed at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/GVZPD9R. The survey will remain open until 10 September 2019.

Anyone who cannot access or use the Surveymonkey link can complete one of these attachments - Disability Research Survey Questions or Easy to Read Disability Research Survey - and send the completed form to info.cdlp@nuigalway.ie or by post to Centre for Disability Law and Policy, Institute for Lifecourse and Society, NUI Galway, Upper Newcastle Road, Galway. Paper copies of the survey will also be available at the conference and can also be brought to the conference registration desk by participants on the day.
