Two decades after Ireland's "Black '47" Finland suffered a famine that was described as "the last great famine in Western Europe." This exhibition describes the Finnish experience and invites comparisons with the Great Hunger. Curated by Dr. Andrew Newby of the Aarhus Institute for Advanced Studies, it is the product of years of research into the relatively unknown Finnish famine.
