Welcome to the Centre for Adult Learning & Professional Development. We offer an extensive range of Professional, Part-time and Evening courses. Our flexible courses allow you to study at your own pace in a wide range of subject areas. Whether you are upskilling for employment or for your own personal development, we have the course for you!
Notice: Applications are now closed for the 2023/24 Academic Year. Online Applications for 2024/25 will reopen on the 1st April, 2024. The mode of study (blended learning, online learning etc.) will differ for each course. Who we are
With over 50 years of providing education and upskilling opportunities for adult learners, the Centre for Adult Learning and Professional Development offers an array of part-time, flexible courses in subject areas as diverse as Archaeology to Artificial Intelligence, Psychology to Physics or Leadership Development to Learning Design.
Each year we welcome over 1,800 part-time learners to our Centre. We offer standalone modules for continuous professional development or courses with Certificate, Diploma, Degree, and Master awards. So, whether you want to study for your own enjoyment or wish to upskill or reskill for employment, you have come to the right place!
There are a number of flexible ways in which you can study our courses (i.e. classroom-based, online) that will allow you to study at your own pace and fit studies around your work and personal life. Continuing Professional Development - CPD
The Centre for Adult Learning and Professional Development has now made it even easier to experience learning through CPD - Continuing Professional Development.
CPD is a process by which you manage your own professional knowledge and skills on an on-going basis. CPD gives you the opportunity to record, review and reflect on your learning. It is essential for continued employment and advancement.
You can take one module or a selection of modules on a standalone basis. Our modules are industry focused and provide an ideal opportunity to upskill in your profession and add to your CPD portfolio. More information here.
International Summer School
Each summer we welcome over three hundred international students with an interest in Irish Studies, Education in Ireland, Irish Language, Archaeology, Geology and Ecology.
The courses on offer will bring you a rich and diverse perspective of the subject area and are taught by expert lecturers and educational professionals who have a vast range of knowledge of their subject matter.
Educational field trips are an integral part of the courses and will provide you with an opportunity to gain hands-on knowledge of your specialism to its fullest extent. During your stay, you will also have time to explore Galway city and many other parts of Ireland. More information here.
