The Rural Voices Seminar Series is entering a new chapter, relaunching as a joint initiative between the University of Galway and the Atlantic Technological University (ATU), with continued support from the Department of Rural and Community Development and the Gaeltacht.
First established in 2022, the series brings rural researchers and practitioners together each month to explore the issues shaping rural Ireland and beyond. Sessions take place for one hour on the last Wednesday of each month, featuring speakers from Ireland and internationally.
The relaunch is led by Professor Maura Farrell, University of Galway, alongside Dr Shane Conway (ATU), strengthening connections between rural-related research, policy and practice through this joint collaboration.
The first Rural Voices Seminar Series returns on Wednesday, 30 September, with John Daly (NWRA) presenting an economic profile of Ireland's Northern and Western Region, from post-2020 RSES developments to the case for rural investment and research infrastructure. Join online via Teams, 3–4pm. Registration required via the following link: Rural Voices Seminar Series: September 2026
