As part of the University’s planning and preparedness for a major security incident, a planned simulated security exercise will be held on our Galway city campus next Monday, 12 May

This is one of a number of routine exercises, designed to enhance the University’s preparedness in the unlikely event of a significant security incident. The exercise will be distinguishable from a “real” incident due to the involvement of exercise controllers, who will be wearing hi-vis vests. The exact location of the exercise will not be known in advance.

It is important to note that if you have any security concerns on the day, please report these in the normal way to the Security Office (ext. 3333) or via the Safe Zone app. Unless it’s otherwise clear, don’t assume that such incidents are part of the simulated exercise.
