Jenny Kenny
Jenny’s Story
My name is Jennifer Kenny, and I am one of the 4 recipients of the Pauline and Bunnie Jones Scholarship 2024.
I began my first year of my un-denominated Science degree in September 2023 and have since completed numerous assignments, labs, and my first year examinations. I was very pleased with my results and have since learned that I have been offered my top three pathway choices for next year- Biochemistry, Chemistry, and Pharmacology - despite competition among hundreds of students and limited spaces.
I am eager to continue my studies in fields more so adapted to my personal tastes, although I did enjoy the vastness of my first year.
I think my freshman year taught me a lot. I earned hands on experience in the laboratory. I had some self-guided learning through readings and time spent in the library. I also got to interact with so many new people which lead to scientific discussions and moments of innovation among my classmates.
Receiving this scholarship has had a huge impact on my life, both academically and personally.
Not only is it a recognition of my dedication and commitment to my studies, but it has also relieved many of the pressures and burdens associated with university. It has helped predominantly with my accommodation costs which nowadays are at the forefront of most students worries.
I will forever be grateful towards the Jones family for their kindness and generosity, and I can only hope that this will be the beginning of my journey in the world of STEM.
