Programme Objectives

The primary objective of the course is to introduce students to an interdisciplinary approach to research, which utilises technologies and skills from a wide spectrum of scientific, engineering and clinical disciplines to address fundamental questions originating in biology and medicine.


 The programme’s key objectives are to:

  1. Provide a solid foundation in scientific knowledge and technical skills for those who intend to go on to study for a PhD and pursue an academic career.
  2. Produce trained postgraduate scientists and engineers equipped to pursue their specialist registrar training in academic, clinical and industry environments
  3. Produce postgraduate scientists who wish to follow a career in the medical technologies and/or biotechnology industry sectors.
