2021 SFI ADAPT-2 PI specializing in Edge-AI & Computer Vision. 
 
Other recent research activity: 
2020: successful participation in DTIF DAVID project to develop low-power smart-toy platform.  
2019: successful participation in ECSEL Heliuas project, lead PI an NUIG on SFI Center for Research Training in Digitally Enhanced Reality (www.d-real.ie); 
2015-2019: SFI industry/academic partnership with Xperi generated more than 50 academic publications, 15 patent filings, and graduated 8 PhDs for public investment of 730k; 
2019: successful participation in ECSEL Heliuas project, lead PI an NUIG on SFI Center for Research Training (www.d-real.ie); 
 
Recognized by Guide2Research as #1 researcher in the ICT/Electronic Engineering field in Ireland (2020).

Research interests include (i) smart-imaging/advanced digital imaging solutions; (ii) biometrics for handheld & IoT devices; (iii) AI, deep learning, data augmentation & data generation (GANs); (iv) internet tech & IoT (v) Embedded Edge-AI; 
 
Co-Founder of several start-up companies including FotoNation (www.fotonation.com)  
Industry consultant & expert witness.
