School of Education Participation at ESAI Conference 2025

The Educational Studies Association of Ireland hosted another highly successful annual conference in Athlone, 10th-12th April, featuring significant School of Education, University of Galway involvement and participation.
Professor Elaine Keane held a symposium at the conference, jointly with Dr Rory McDaid, Marino Institute of Education, Dublin: Teacher Diversity: Factors Influencing Students’ Reasoning in Considering or Rejecting Teaching as a Career.
Prof Keane also presented the ESAI Teacher Diversity Special Interest Group (SIG) at the ESAI SIG Showcase at the Conference.
Prof Tony Hall jointly presented the ESAI Creativity in Education Special Interest Group (SIG) at the ESAI SIG Showcase at the Conference; and he presented a paper on Designing Futures, jointly with Professor Michelle Millar and Dr Abdellatif Atif: Digital Storytelling, AI and Life Design: Designing futures through innovative pathways to belonging and engagement in higher education.
Emer Davitt, Dr Veronica McCauley and Dr Paul Flynn had their paper at the conference, titled: Belonging and Identity during a time of reform. The impact of curricular reform on the adaptive practices of second level teachers in Irish Medium settings.
A Member of the ESAI Executive, Professor Tony Hall jointly organised/co-chaired the 2025 Conference.
The School of Education, University of Galway is delighted to host the conference next year: 28th, 29th & 30th May 2026, a particularly special event as it will be the 50th Anniversary of the First Meeting of Scholars in UCG in 1976 that led to the foundation of the ESAI.
