Dr. Tina-Karen Pusse from the German Discipline was inaugurated as the new German Honorary Consul
Congratulations to Dr. Tina-Karen Pusse from the School of LLC who was inaugurated as the new German Honorary Consul at the University of Galway by the German Ambassador yesterday, the 9th of October 2025!
I’m truly delighted to take up my new role as Honorary Consul of the Federal Republic of Germany for the West of Ireland!
At the University of Galway – as former Head of the School of Languages, Literatures and Cultures and co-chair of the International Staff Network – my work has always focused on accessibility, inclusion, and practical support for international communities.
I want to bring that same approach to my new role: to make it easier for German citizens – especially families, older people, and those with mobility challenges – to access consular services locally.
To make this possible, I’ll be offering Saturday consultation hours twice a month, so that working people and families can meet me without having to take time off during the week.
I’m also looking forward to strengthening the cultural and economic ties between Germany and Ireland – through collaboration, shared projects, and genuine personal connection. (Dr. Tina-Karen Pusse)
Here are some snapshot of last night's event. Thanks to all for coming, it was a lovely evening.
