Radiation Oncology
IRROG Galway is part of the national Irish Research Radiation Oncology Group (IRROG), and sits within HRB-CRFG for research governance.
IRROG is a national platform for delivering high-quality national and international trials to patients receiving radiotherapy, and was founded with HRB grant CTIC-2021-007 of €2.37 million with matching co-funds. Prof. Joseph Martin is a founding member and co-applicant of IRROG, and leads the Galway unit.
The team comprises full-time research assistants and FTEs in Radiation Therapy, Physics and Dosimetry.
Since commencement, IRROG Galway has successfully opened and recruited to a number of international phase 3 interventional trials, and is currently developing a number of in-house IIT’s. These include CompARE, DASL HiCAP, NRG HN009, EXPERT, SIMPLIFY and PRESERVE.
