About us
University of Galway Innovation Office
Accelerating Impact: We drive and support pathways that create positive impacts from our university's research outputs, expertise, and infrastructure. With extensive expertise in knowledge transfer and commercialisation, the team works closely with the university's research community to track, identify, and develop new inventions and research breakthroughs, while also supporting collaborations with industry.
Empowering Start-ups: We encourage and assist entrepreneurs, including our own spin-out companies, by providing bespoke support in our Innovation Centres and beyond. Our experts collaborate in scaling and growing start-ups and other early-stage companies and support the region's innovation ecosystem.
Engaging for Innovation: The team develops and deploys the knowledge, training, policies, processes, and legal frameworks to support the innovation ecosystem. They foster collaborative research and industry engagements, leading initiatives and partnerships that drive innovation and economic development in our region and beyond.
.............Since 2020, we have incubated 21 new spin-out companies and helped identify with our researchers 195 new inventions to feed our innovation pipeline. Funded collaborative research projects with industry reached 243 in that timeframe.
Our Innovation Office and Innovation Centres on campus have now supported over 100 start-ups that have gone on to raise €796m in grants and investments - creating 3,365 jobs.
