Description

As contaminated water from inadequate wastewater management continues to pose one of the world’s greatest health challenges, the INNOQUA Project aims to contribute to a solution by the development of a fully ecological modular sanitation system. The system will integrate individual low cost, sustainable and biologically based technologies and offer flexible sanitation solutions for markets in developed and developing countries.

The NUIG INNOQUA Team has a key technical role in the Project fulfilling the function of Technical Director as well as managing and contributing to the Project’s Principal technical Work Package. The development of two initial prototypes are planned in the Project and one of these will be subject to extensive testing over an 18 month period at the NUIG/EPA Water Research Facility in Tuam, County Galway https://nuigalwayeparesearchfacility/ The prototype testing in a controlled environment is directed by Project’s Technology Prototyping Working Group which is led by NUI Galway. A final demonstration model of the INNOQUA system will be installed at a selected site in Galway by the NUI Galway team to represent the project’s agricultural application.
