About Us
The Discipline of Applied Clinical AI & Technologies at the University of Galway brings together expertise in healthcare, engineering, and intelligent systems to address some of the most pressing challenges in modern medicine. Our purpose is to advance the development and application of innovative technologies that improve patient care, enhance clinical decision-making, and support more efficient and accessible healthcare systems.
At the core of our work are three interconnected functions: education, clinical research, and industry engagement. We deliver interdisciplinary programmes that equip students with skills in areas such as medical device design, data analytics, and machine learning. Our research focuses on cutting-edge topics including digital health, smart medical devices, biosensing, and AI-driven diagnostics. In parallel, we collaborate closely with healthcare providers, industry leaders, and global partners to ensure our work translates into real-world impact. Our areas of expertise span:
