Welcome to Discipline of Clinical Medicine & Population Health

The Discipline of Clinical Medicine & Population Health is based in the Clinical Sciences Institute on the University Hospital Galway (UHG) teaching site and incorporates teaching and research across our academies in Letterkenny, Sligo, Mayo and Ballinasloe, and in our partner institutions, the Bon Secours Hospital Galway, Galway Clinic and the National Institute for Preventative Cardiology.

About Us

The Discipline delivers undergraduate and postgraduate education in clinical medicine and has a strong research platform in key areas of population health, for example, in integrated care, digital and connected health, and cardio-renal-metabolic disease prevention and rehabilitation.

Discipline members include clinically active and non-clinically active academic teachers and researchers, and physician members of the Academic Clinician Advancement Programme in our teaching hospitals and institutions. Members of the discipline hold leadership roles within the School of Medicine, College of Medicine and Health, University of Galway, nationally and internationally, reflecting a diverse range of expertise in areas such as geriatrics, endocrinology, rheumatology, cardiology, infectious diseases, emergency medicine, travel medicine and medical ethics.
