Overview

Our research focuses on advancing knowledge in diagnostic and interventional radiology to address key health challenges, with a particular emphasis on oncologic imaging, advanced imaging techniques, and utilizing AI to optimize the utility and clinical impact of radiologic studies. We work collaboratively within the university research centres, with partners across Galway University Hospitals, and with industry partners to deliver leading research that improves healthcare delivery and patient outcomes.

Areas & Themes

  • Ongoing SPARK and ARChub funded research in improving oncologic imaging through the utilization of AI and advanced MR imaging
  • Leading efforts to fund and support a collaborative research MRI scanner
  • Engaging with industry partners to test and improve interventional radiology devices and techniques

Environments & Structures

  • Our members are actively engaged and collaborate with the Institute for Clinical Trials, Health Discovery & Innovation, Data Science Institute, CÚRAM, Cancer Centre, Galway Neuroscience Centre
  • We work collaboratively with many departments throughout the School of Medicine and University, including Pathology, Computer Science, Medical Physics, Biomedical Engineering
