We propose to establish an all-Ireland world-leading Research Centre, dedicated to performing research on protecting our increasingly interconnected society to both digital and physical threats, to reduce their impact on critical physical and digital infrastructure, and on the population.

The overall goal of Security Research Hub is to develop disrupting solutions to prepare for, respond to, assess, and recover from such events, with the objectives of (1) protecting human life; (2) safeguarding cyberphysical ecosystems (CPeS); and (3) improving individuals’ security; while (4) safeguarding individuals’ privacy from undue intrusiveness, and giving users ultimate control over sharing their information with others. This will protect society and enable growth of new and existing industries with international impact.

Security Research Hub will achieve its goals by conducting cutting-edge research into: security of cyberphysical ecosystems; advances in sensing; machine intelligence; all underpinned by a user-centric approach to secure solutions for privacy, trust and identity. Reflecting European societal values, research and development will take into account human and socio-economic factors from the outset, in addition to technical and legal/regulatory considerations. Working closely with industry, end-users, and other stakeholders across Ireland and beyond, Security Research Hub will translate research outputs into next-generation scientific and engineering integrated solutions for detecting, responding to, containing and ultimately mitigating/disrupting natural and humanmade digital and CBRNe (chemical, biological, radiation, nuclear and explosive) threats.

To address key emerging and future security threats, Security Research Hub’s research will be organised into four interconnected and interdependent Platform Research capabilities and multiple Targeted Projects addressing specific research challenges with industry partners, as described on this website.
