The Socio-Economic Marine Research Unit is a research group with full time researchers, and is also made up of personnel from a range of university departments academic staff who contribute to the research of the unit. As a multidisciplinary unit, SEMRU often collaborates with researchers from other institutes from all over the world. Some associate members are past team members of SEMRU, while others may have collaborated on various pieces of research/research projects.  SEMRU is also a capacity building unit, so we have a number of PhD students also. The unit is led by Prof Stephen Hynes who is a natural resource and environmental economist.
