Important Dates
The following dates are the schedule of deadlines for applications to the Academic Promotions scheme for 2026:
31/08/2026
Applications will close at 4:00p.m. Irish Time on the day of the deadline.
Important Dates - August 2026 round
All times are Irish Time.
Between now and August 2026 – Applicant and Head of School engagement in relation to the application.
31st August 2026 4:00p.m. – Applicant submits the completed Application Form, supporting documentation and (under no circumstances should the applicant contact their externally nominated assessors) via the HR Portal and via email to the Head of School.
14th September 2026 4:00p.m. – Head of School submits the Head of School Form to academicpromotions@universityofgalway.ie and copies the applicant.
21st September 2026 4:00p.m. – Applicant, if desired, sends a response to the Head of School form to academicpromotions@universityofgalway.ie and copies the Head of School.
15th October 2026 4:00p.m. – Head of School submits the external assessor form to academicpromotions@universityofgalway.ie (this should not be shared or copied with the candidate).
Head of School - Important Dates
The Head of School must submit the Head of School Form within 14 calendar days of the application closing date. For the February 2026 round of promotions the form should be sent to academicpromotions@universityofgalway.ie and copied to the candidate. The candidate has 7 calendar days right to comment on the Head of School form. For the August 2026 round of promotions the form should be sent to academicpromotions@universityofgalway.ie and copied to the Head of School.
The Head of School must submit the nominated external assessor form within 45 calendar days of the application closing date. Under no circumstances should this be shared with the candidate.
Key dates for August 2026 round of promotions:
- 14th September 2026 4:00p.m. Head of School submits the Head of School form.
- 21st September 2026 4:00p.m. candidates submits right to comment on Head of School form.
- 15th October 2026 4:00p.m. Head of School submits the Assessors Nomination Form (this should not be shared or copied with the candidate).
