Dr Carmel Mullaney is a HSE Director of Public Health in the South-east, and is currently serving as clinical lead for Self-management and Support for Chronic Disease.

She led the development of “Living Well with a Chronic Condition” – the national framework for self management support for COPD, Asthma, Diabetes and Cardiovascular disease and currently chairs the interim national self-management support advisory group supporting implementation of the framework. She is co-chair of a collaborative group including the HSE and the Irish Higher Education Institutes which is currently developing a national undergraduate curriculum on self-management support for chronic disease as part of an overall chronic disease prevention and management programme. She was chair of the oversight group of the recent development and evaluation with CROI, of a community-based cardiac rehabilitation programme. She will contribute to the CDP-CDP as a member of the Executive Programme Advisory Board.
