Office of the Chief Operating Officer
Chief Operating Officer
John Gill is the Chief Operating Officer (COO) at NUI Galway and with his team is responsible for ensuring that the University’s core work of teaching, learning and research is supported as effectively, efficiently and economically as possible, in line with the strategic plan of the University. Reporting to the President, the COO is a member of the University Management Team with specific line management responsibility for the following key services— Buildings and Estates, Information Solutions and Services, Procurement & Contracts, Health & Safety, Commercial Services, Corporate and Legal Affairs and Insurance. The COO also has broad responsibility to ensure that the work of a wider group of support services is fully aligned with the needs and service requirements of the University community. His office will enable good organisation and management in the devolved academic community, while also building high performing, cost-effective and well aligned central support and commercial services and systems.
