Neurotransmitter
Launched in January 2017 Neurotransmitter is a competition for employees and Students at University Hospital Galway. An information evening was hosted on January 26th 2017 in the CSI with Dr Johnny Walker as keynote speaker. Staff and students have an opportunity to develop their ideas via workshops and a mentoring process supported by our project partners before pitching their innovation in April 2017. Winners of the competition will receive a bursary along with additional mentoring of the successful idea. The competition is supported by Saolta Hospital Group, National University of Ireland, Galway, West Northwest Intern Network, E-health Ireland, National Digital Research Centre (NDRC), and Bioinnnovate.

- Thursday, 06th April 2017 Idea Pitch event in the Portershed in Galway City, to win bursary and tailored mentoring.

Resilience Programme
Stress and burnout is prevalent in professionals working in the area of healthcare.
ICAPSS welcomed medal winning paralympian Dr Eoghan Clifford, Dr Paddy Barrett, aka ‘The Doctor Paradox’, Dr. Pat Lam, head coach of connacht rugby,' The Happy Pear' Mr. David and Stephen Flynn, and 20 year navy seal veteran Dr. Naggiar, to speak at NUI Galway and Saolta Grand Rounds on the topic of Resilience.
The guest speakers giving invaluable understanding of their experiences and approaches to resilience in their respective fields of expertise. The purpose of the seminars is to provide some insights into how healthcare professionals can become more resilient. The series included national and international speakers from within the healthcare community, as well as other domains.
