How to Measure

If you agree to participate, a member of the project team will be in contact to agree a suitable day for them to visit your home and perform the measurements. A trained researcher will place a small  device in your home and car for 60 days which will measure POPs in the air. They will use small, discrete, specialist equipment which should not interfere with the day to day activities in your home. The researcher will also collect a sample of floor dust from your living room and car using a standard vacuum cleaner, and a sample of drinking water from the tap in your kitchen.

You will be asked to complete a short questionnaire, to provide brief details of the number of electrical appliances, the type of textiles etc. in your living room and car.

It is estimated that the researcher will be present in your home for around 30 minutes on a total of two occasions over a 2-month period to set up and collect the equipment and the questionnaire.
