On 8/9 May, a group of 30 postgraduate students from the Irish Centre for Human Rights visited The Hague. This annual visit affords LLM students an opportunity to visit various international institutions based in the "City of Peace and Justice". This year University of Galway students visited the International Criminal Court, the Kosovo Specialist Chambers, the International Court of Justice and the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons. They undertook tours of the various institutions, met with staff and gained an appreciation of their functioning and challenges. The visit, which was coordinated by Professor Shane Darcy, Deputy Director of the Centre, is one of the highlights of the students' academic programme, adding a valuable practical dimension to their studies of international law and institutions.
