Fáilte Fest: Sunday, 26 September

Have a browse below of the unique programme of activities designed to let you explore our beautiful campus, get acquainted with key resources and make new friends along the way. 

Many of the on-campus events will take place outdoors. Remember to dress for changeable weather and wear comfortable shoes – it's a big campus! You can bring a packed lunch and enjoy the atmosphere in some of our covered outdoor areas or eat in one of our catering outlets. In accordance with COVID-19 regulations, you will need your COVID-19 Vaccination Certificate to eat indoors.

Click here for information on parking. Give yourself plenty of time to arrive. If you are driving, note that parking is open to all on Saturday and Sunday. On weekdays, you will need a permit and must park in designated student carparks. Don’t get clamped on your first day! If you have accessibility requirements, please email sec@nuigalway.ie by 5pm on Wednesday, 22 September. 

Health & Wellbeing Pop Up

When: 10am–3pm
Where: Tent beside Arts Millennium Building 

Wellbeing Services are here for all your queries and self-care needs. Take part in yoga and mindfulness workshops, and learn about active consent. You can also sign up for campus biodiversity walks to discover the neighbouring wildlife.  

Meet Your Student Adviser

When: 11am–3pm (see slots below)
Where: 
Student Enquiry Centre, Arts/Science Building, Concourse  

Each college has a Student Adviser. Come meet yours and learn about the various kinds of support available to you. 

11am–12pm: Annmarie GilchristMedicine, Nursing and Health Sciences

1–2pm: Kelly Moore, College of Science & Engineering

Your Sustainable Student Journey – Here is Where!

When: 12.30pm
Where: Leaving Áras na Mac Léinn

Join our hour-long sustainability walk throughout our beautiful campus. Come explore the organic garden, herb gardens, pollinator areas, river walks, invasive spaces and biodiversity trail.

Students Union Walk and Talk

When: 1–2pm
Where: 
Kingfisher Gym and Fitness Centre 

An hour-long walk by the calming River Corrib to clear your thoughts. Limited spaces availableBook your ticket here.

Campus Tours 

When: Sunday to Friday, 25 September to 1 October

Didn't make your tour on Saturday? All students, and any first-years who miss their scheduled tour, will be able to book a campus tour via YourSpace after 6pm on Saturday, 25 September. These additional tours will take place between Sunday and Friday, 26 September and 1 October 2021.

Still not sure which building does what? Find-It lets you find out more about a building by scanning the QR code on the Find-It sign outside. 

Galway City Tours 

Tuesday to Thursday, 28–30 September 
New to GalwayGet to know the City of Tribes with the Wavemakers. Wavemaker volunteers were trained to lead city tours during the Galway 2020 European Capital of Culture. To book a Campus or City Tour, log into YourSpace (you can do this once you are a registered student – see instructions at this link). Once logged in, go to the Galway City Tours or NUI Galway Campus Tours links in the menu on the left. From here, you can book your slot.
