Starting university is an exciting time and we invite you to give yourself the best start possible by participating fully in first year orientation 2023, both before and after teaching starts on Monday 18 September.

Online Orientation

Tús Maith – a self-paced and interactive online resource to help you get ready for University of Galway once you have accepted your CAO offer. Get started with Tús Maith here.
Online orientation – starting from Tuesday, 12 September and continues through to Thursday, 14 September, depending on your course and where applicable. Check your personal orientation schedule (use the search box above) for details.

On-Campus Orientation

On-campus orientation – welcome events, including campus tours, from 9am on Friday, 15 September. For key info on parking and navigation during on-campus orientation, click here.
Freshers’ Fest – a programme of social activities taking place on Friday 15 and on Saturday 16 September.
HEAR and DARE inductions - students eligible for HEAR or DARE are invited to attend induction (check your email for details).
Settling In – a series of themed weeks to further support your transition to higher education, running from Monday, 18 September to Friday, 13 October.

Starting University Checklist

The checklist below will help you to prepare for University life – you can start some of these tasks straight away.

BEFORE Orientation begins, check that you have:

Accepted your CAO offer of a place at University of Galway
Checked out the Help Hub for key info on parking and navigation during orientation
Arranged your accommodation (if moving to Galway)
Completed the Tús Maith pre-arrival activities
Completed multi-factor authentication (you will receive an email with instructions on this after you receive your CAO offer)
Activated your online Campus account (IT account), and set up your new student email account – you must complete this step before you can register for your course. You will receive an email with detailed instructions on this soon after accepting your CAO offer
Registered for your course online
Planned your Orientation schedule
Followed our social media channels Instagram, Twitter, Facebook

BY THE END of Orientation, ensure you have:

Completed the checklist above
Reviewed your University of Galway email inbox
Activated your University of Galway Canvas account
Received your timetable from your college. Classes start Monday 18 September
Taken a campus tour.
