Programme Level Orientation

The University has over 200 taught postgraduate programmes and orientation for incoming students is delivered at programme level. Your Programme Director will be in touch with the timetable for your class and other instructions on commencing your studies.

Registration 

Course registration for postgraduate taught students begins on 17 August 2023 and closes on 12 September 2023. Please visit the Registration section of our website for further information on key dates and the registration process: Registration Information  

Academic Calendar

Activating Your New University of Galway Account

New students will receive a welcome email  "Activating your new University of Galway campus account" to your personal email address. The email will give you your University of Galway email address and a temporary activation passwordIt also describe the steps new students need to take to activate your new University of Galway campus account. Your campus account will allow you to access many important services during your time at University of Galway.  Please review the important instructions here on the steps you will need to take once you receive this email.

New to University of Galway?

If University of Galway is new to you, then you will have a busy few weeks settling into our university community campus and community. See below some resources that might bus useful when you are here: 

  • Our Student Enquiry Centre is located just inside the doors of the Arts & Science Concourse. It will be the first stop for many of you as you interact the University support network. From directions to deferrals, rest assured that any queries we can't resolve will be directed to the relevant University staff member or Student Support Service. The centre is open from 10am–4pm, Mon to Thurs & 10am–1pm on Fridays. 
  • Cara is our virtual assistant for current University of Galway students. Available 24/7/365 to support you with questions about day-to-day university life.
  • Check out our Library’s programme of events and workshops starting from early September aimed at introducing new students to our library services and providing support to current students.
