As part of the Let’s Talk Research Seminar Series at the Irish Centre for Human Rights, BILQIS PhD candidate, Saeede Mokhtarzade presented her research on the experiences of undocumented Afghan migrants in Iran.

Her talk, “Living in Precarity, Working in the Shadows: Undocumented Afghan Migrants in Iran,” examined the conditions faced by undocumented Afghan migrants working in Iran and the gap between formal legal protections and everyday realities.

The presentation explored how precarious immigration status affects access to employment rights, legal protection and basic security. It also considered wider questions of migration governance, discrimination and the position of undocumented workers within a human rights framework.
