About Us
Who we are
Established in 1849, University of Galway School of Law delivers innovative legal education in a dynamic setting dedicated to impactful, high-quality legal research. With over 1300 students, over 55 staff, a range of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes and exciting clinical legal education opportunities, the School emphasises student-focused, research-led teaching delivered in a supportive and intellectually challenging environment.
It hosts the internationally renowned Irish Centre for Human Rights, the Centre for Disability Law & Policy, the Centre for Housing Law, Rights and Policy, and the Centre for Law, Religion and Society, all with established reputations as world leaders in their fields. The School is passionate about research that meets the highest standards of scholarship, informs student learning, engages with current societal challenges, impacts public debate, and informs government policy.
We strive to foster a strong community of students and graduates through our student Law Society, Alumni networks and regular events and conferences.
