BCL Law and Human Rights Student Tala Albanna Visits Áras an Uachtaráin with Gaza Student Delegation

We are delighted that our BCL Law and Human Rights student, Tala Albanna, was part of a delegation of students from Gaza, Palestine, invited to meet with President of Ireland, Catherine Connolly, at Áras an Uachtaráin on July 15th. Tala presented President Connolly with a piece of traditional Palestinian embroidery (which she hand-crafted).
In addition to being a law student, Tala Albanna is a writer and blogger. Her co-authored book ‘Nos cœurs invincibles: Correspondance entre une étudiante à Gaza et une étudiante en Israël’, (Our invincible hearts: correspondence between a student in Gaza and a student in Israel) (with Michelle Amzalak), is published by Flammarion, France (and translated into Italian, Swedish, Norwegian and Finnish). The English translation ‘I pray you will be safe’, is forthcoming in December 2026 (with Hachette).
Tala blogs with ‘We are not numbers’.
In August and September 2025, Irish Universities welcomed over 70 students from Gaza, all of whom were part of an evacuation supported by the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade.
