EAT–Lancet Commission Report on Healthy, Sustainable and Just Food Systems
MA in International Development Practice Students (MIDP) virtually attended the launch of the EAT–Lancet Commission Report on Healthy, Sustainable and Just Food Systems, on Friday 3rd October 2025.https://www.thelancet.com/commissions-do/EAT-2025.
The 2025 EAT-Lancet Commission asks a defining question: How can we feed a growing population within planetary boundaries, while putting justice and equity at the centre of food systems transformation? The 2025 edition builds on the previous report by adding improved modelling of food-system transformation and adding social-justice considerations.
In follow up to the launch, MIDP students along with two other Masters programmes attended a participatory workshop on Monday 6th of October to consider questions related to the report. The workshop, hosted by Dr. Anne Mullen brought together speakers from the Ryan Institute’s research community (The Agriculture, Food Systems and Bioeconomy Research Centre (AFSBRC) and the Centre for International Development Innovation (CIDI)) to consider the EAT-Lancet findings, including implications for more healthy, sustainable, and just food systems. The Irish Forum for International Agricultural Development (IFIAD) provided financial support for the EAT-Lancet compatible foods which were provided to workshop participants (picture).
