Overview
The overall aim of this module is to familiarise the learner with the fundamentals of business organisation and company law in Ireland, and examine some of the main areas of law relevant to managers and entrepreneurs. Students will also be introduced to the principles of data protection, and computer crime. Additionally learners will be introduced to some of the basics of health and safety protections in Ireland. This course would be ideal of anyone thinking of starting a business in Ireland who wants to understand the company law landscape in greater detail. While this is a law course, it is designed to suit those without great knowledge of the legal system in Ireland and Europe. Students will learn through engagement with real life case law and legislation, discussion and working through short hypothetical problems.
Entry Requirements
Applicants must be 21 years of age. Applicants should have a Diploma at NFQ Level 7.
What you will Learn
When you have successfully completed this module, you will be able to:
- Give an overview of data protection and data privacy law at National and EU level.
- Discuss Irish law in relation to crime committed in the digital environment.
- Outline the legal obligations of Irish employers in relation to health and safety legislation.
- Critically evaluate the legal structures of business enterprises.
- Explain and apply the principles of partnership law.
- Explain and apply the principles of company law.
- Discuss the main areas of law in relation to commercial enterprise
Course Outcomes
On successful completion of this micro-credential, you will receive credits as per the European Credit and Transfer System. These credits are recognised by the awarding institution as credits aligned to learning completed at undergraduate level 8.
