About the G16 conference Series ``CHALCOGENS´´ are elements belonging to periodic table Group 16 (G16) and include the elements oxygen, sulfur, selenium and tellurium. These elements, their bio-geological cycles and interactions with metals, still have many unrevealed scientific curiosities and technological potentials. The 1st G16 conference was held in June 2008 in Wageningen, The Netherlands, on the conclusion of the Marie Curie Excellence Grant "Novel Biogeological Methods for Heavy Metal Removal", headed by Prof Piet Lens. The 2nd, 3rd and 4th G16 conferences were held in Delft, The Netherlands, the 5th in Goa (India) and the 6th in Naples (Italy). The conferences overviewed the wide range of topics related to CHALCOGEN research. The 7th International conference on Research Frontiers in Chalcogen Cycle Science & Technology, to be held from National University Ireland Galway, Galway, Ireland), but completely online via video-link, will serve as a platform for academicians, researchers, scientists, plant managers, and industrial experts to discuss and exchange the latest scientific and technological advancements in chalcogen-based research. Ireland is one of the biggest producers of plastic waste in the EU per inhabitant. Often, recyclable plastic ends up in the general waste bin or non-recyclable products are mixed within the recycling bin. Or even worse, have you ever seen some plastic on the streets, rivers, or the ocean? This event focuses on the fate of plastic after we have used it and how we can improve plastic recycling as users. What happens when it is introduced into the recycling chain or if it is wrongly disposed? Is it always clear which materials are recyclable and which are not? Do you find it easy to dispose your recycled material (e.g. at home, school, university, work place, or public spaces as parks or streets)? How do you think plastic recycling could be simplified and made more efficient? Join us for this event and round table discussion. We have three short presentations from professionals from industry, academia and society, followed by an open round table where your contribution is invaluable. Make any question, suggestion or comment for improving plastic recycling skills. All comments need! When? 12th November 2020 from 5-6pm Where?
