In February 2026 the Microscopy Society of Ireland (MSI) welcomed the Royal Microscopical Society's 11th EM UKI meeting to Dublin.

This gathering was of special significance as it marks the first time this meeting was hosted in Ireland by Dr Kerry Thompson and Dr Lewys Jones.

The MSI is an all-island learned society dedicated to promoting microscopy in the biological and physical sciences, fostering dialogue, education, and collaboration across disciplines. Originally founded as the Irish Society for Electron Microscopy in 1975, MSI has supported research and training in Ireland for nearly five decades.

Dr Emma McDermott of AIM is a member of the Scientific Organising Committee for the yearly meeting.
