New investment in early-career researchers to deliver societal and economic impact
Congratulations to our PhD researchers, Alexandra Steele, Amanie Issa أماني عيسى, and Ramez Alhayek on the award of highly prestigious Government of Ireland Postgraduate Scholarships by Research Ireland.
Congratulations also to all the PhD supervisors, Dr Edel Hughes, Dr Mais Qandeel, Professor Eilionóir Flynn, Professor Shane Darcy and Professor Siobhán Mullally
The PhD scholarships are awarded for the following PhD research topics:
Amanie Issa, 'Gender and Disability Within a Settler Colonial Framework: The Case of Palestine'
Alexandra Steele, 'Slavery as Personhood-Capture: Re-thinking a Property-Based Conception of Slavery in International Criminal Law'
Ramez Al-Hayek, 'With Intent to Destroy in Whole or in Part? The Nexus of Genocide and Settler-Colonialism in Palestine'
This highly-competitive scholarship is funded by the Department of Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science; with successful awardees under this programme ‘recognised as demonstrating world-class potential as future research leaders’.
The latest round of funding was announced last week by Minister James Lawless TD, who celebrated €36.3 million in funding for 341 research projects through the Research Ireland Government of Ireland postgraduate and postdoctoral programmes.
