Research in the School of Pharmacy and Medical Sciences at the University of Galway spans the disciplines of pharmacy, pharmacology and therapeutics, and physiology. Our work bridges fundamental discovery science, translational research, and human-focused investigation, with a strong emphasis on understanding mechanisms of health and disease and developing innovative therapeutic approaches. Research strengths include cancer biology and treatment, neuroscience, immunology, drug discovery and therapeutics, musculoskeletal disorders, ageing, ocular disorders, and advanced therapies. Through interdisciplinary collaboration, the School aims to generate new knowledge, improve patient outcomes, and contribute to the development of next-generation medicines and healthcare solutions.
