How to access Payslips Online

You can view and download your payslips through the University’s online system.

Before leaving the University, please ensure you download and save any payslips you may need for your records.

Personal Public Service (PPS) Number

Your Personal Public Service Number (PPS Number) is a unique reference number used to access social welfare benefits, public services and information in Ireland. State agencies that use PPS Numbers to identify individuals include the Department of Social Protection, the Revenue Commissioners and the Health Service Executive (HSE)

Pay As You Earn (P.A.Y.E./TAX)

Pay Related Social Insurance (P.R.S.I.)

Pay Related Social Insurance (PRSI) contributions support the Social Insurance Fund, which pays for social welfare benefits and pensions. Both employers and employees normally contribute a percentage of reckonable earnings.

Universal Social Charge (U.S.C.)

USC is a tax payable to Revenue based on your gross income.

Additional Superannuation Contribution

ASC was introduced to secure additional permanent employee contributions to ensure the sustainable financing of public service pensions into the future. ASC applies to serving public service employees who have a public service pension entitlement. ASC is chargeable on pensionable remuneration only.

Pension Deductions

There are three Defined Benefits Schemes in operation at University of Galway:

  1. Pension Scheme 2010 (Joint Pension Scheme)
  2. Pension Scheme 2005 (Model Scheme)
  3. Single Public Service Scheme (SPS) - this applies to staff that commenced employment for the first time in the public sector on or after 1 January 2013.

Group Life Plan

All eligible new employees are automatically accepted into the Plan upon commencement of employment and as outlined on your employment contract.
