Professor John Pius Dalton completed his BSc and PhD in Zoology and Parasitology at University College Dublin and has over 35 years of international research experience. He has held postdoctoral research positions at leading institutions including Johns Hopkins School of Medicine (USA), the National Institutes for Allergies and Infectious Diseases (USA), and academic positions at Dublin City University (Ireland), The Queensland Institute for Medical Research (Australia), McGill University (Canada), and Queen’s University Belfast (UK). He is current a Research Ireland (Taighde Eireann) Professor in Molecular Parasitology in the School of Natural Sciences, University of Galway. His research focuses on the fundamental biology of parasites and their interactions with animal and human hosts and the  translation of this knowledge into practical solutions such as diagnostic tools, vaccines, and novel treatments.
