Students are able to undertake training related to filmmaking including camera and lighting, and also postproduction processes an array of industry standard software including the Adobe Creative Suit.

Work Placements

Year 3 offers students the opportunity to apply their skills and knowledge within real-world settings - internships with media and arts organisations and supervised research and creative projects.

Study Abroad

You can also choose to study abroad for a full semester, allowing you the unique opportunity to study and immerse yourself in another culture while further developing your academic and practical skill

Film & Digital Media at University of Galway is a unique and open-ended course combining film theory, cinema culture and practical film work. By watching and discussing films of all types and ages, students progress from the basics to advanced concepts, creative ideas, and critical analysis. Digital Media complements this with animation, video production, and modern media studies. With its strong mix of theory, hands-on practice, and industry insight, I highly recommend this course to anyone passionate about cinema and eager to develop the skills needed for a successful career in the industry.
